Chinese government decided to provide humanitarian aid to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) which is suffering serious flood caused by heavy rain, announced foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao on Thursday.
"Chinese government pays great attention to the situation in the DPRK and decided to provide humanitarian aid such as medicine and equipment to help the flood victims to overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes," Liu said.
The heavy rain, which started on August 7, caused huge losses of life and property and left 100,000 people homeless, according to reports by the Korean Central News Agency.
外交部的发言人刘建超宣布,中国政府决定向正在遭受因暴雨引起的严重洪水灾害的朝鲜提供人道主义援助。
刘建超说:“中国政府十分重视朝鲜的情况并决定提供药品和器材等人道主义援助,以帮助受灾的人们克服困难,重建家园。”
据朝中社报道,八月七日开始的暴雨已经造成了严重的生命财产损失,使十万人无家可归。
